I love the Set-Up - You?
I always love seeing set-up shots. The set-up tells most of the story but doesn't always give away little subleties. For example: lens choice, placement of the light, or the distance between light source and subject. There are so many little variables to consider; so many options. And that my friends is why I love photography so much, the creative process is endless.
If you are new to light and want to learn a boatload of information on these subleties in a fun and easy way. I recommend checking out the Vbook. Direct link to buy here.

You don't need to spend a fortune to create amazing images. Most of the time I am using only one light source (speedlight or a strobe) and use the sun or some other continuous light source as my second light. In the shot above you can see that I'm using the sun as a rim light. If I didn't have the light from directly above, I could have use a reflector for some fill. That my friends would be three light sources only using one artificial light! Now that is why I'm talking subleties. It's that little extra care to details that makes the difference.

The shot of Ramon above you can see a lot of subleties going on here. This is merely a test shot before we got into props and working through our concept. I think it's interesting to see this sort of thing, especially if you are starting out with lights.
