The Coolest President - Ned Bunnell
It's not every day the President of a major camera manufacturer (PENTAX) mentions you on his blog! But today is the day for us at lightenupandshoot.com, check this article out!
Mr. Ned Bunnell has been officially declared the COOLEST PRESIDENT EVER!
Wanna learn a little more about Mr. Bunnell? Check out his blog where he talks about everything from coffee to megapixels! Don't forget to tell him we say hello!

Backlighting with the Sun
Here's a quick walk-through of two scenarios where I use the sun to to backlight my subject. I usually start with a natural light shot before I resort to using a flash. Using flash will give you the ability to control the background/ambient light (shutter speed controls ambient light) while properly illuminating your subject with flash (aperture controls flash exposure.)
Photo examples after the break:
Covenas, Colombia - Behind the Scenes
Lightenupandshoot.com heads to Covenas, Colombia for some Caribbean relaxation...and photos of some of the locals. Andy and I decided to bring both the Backpacker's Studio and Backpacker's Studio Plus (addition of the Alien Bee 1600 head and the Vagabond II for battery power). I suspect to receive a few emails for carrying something other than the Backpacker's Studio. But, when on vacation it's nice to bring out the big toys.
Photos and Part 2 after the break...
Lighten Up And Re-Shoot - Parkour Part 2
So after the 1st attempt at shooting Paulo Andres Escobar and his Free Running was a kinda failure because of my nap time...we go attempt Part 2. This time, everything is planned out a little better. We have a little more time because we are going to be staying with Paulo the entire weekend in a town called Guatape, Colombia.
