Without a doubt the newer model YongNuo RF-603 TRANSCEIVERS are the biggest bang for the buck now. I was planning to buy the Cybersynchs but since photography is only a hobby and flash photography is only a very small part of my work I was reluctant to spend the money on them. I bought one pair of RF603s to use the remote shutter release feature on a recent trip to the American southwest and then quickly bought a 2nd pair. They trigger my camera, a Norman 440 WS power pack and any of three Vivitar and Nikon SB units. And they cost under $35 A PAIR!

So Ive been following you guys and Dave Hobby. Its invigorated my photography and launched me into offering location portraits. My question is on impact powersyncs. Ive seen my my interweb travels a product that looks exactly like the impact units made by smdv, a Korean outfit. They are called flashwave iii. Are they the same are they compatible with the impact? Are you familar with them? Im looking at a pair of recievers and a transmitter for $189 shipped from Amazon. all the same specs just wondering if they are the same units? PS ebook is being purchased today. Can't wait

I have 2 pairs of those. They are awesome, but the build quality varies with each unit. I have one where the channel dial is a bit unstable. You think it is in the right position, but it's actually halfway. And you wonder why the flash isn't firing. The other 3 units are just fine though. Another "problem" is that the flash won't fire if 2 units get too close (within about 1 foot) to each other. But other than that, these are awesome units for the price.

How about the Cactus v5's? You can get a pair for $60 and they are transceivers so each of them can be either a receiver or a transmitter. I've read good things about them.
