Flash to subject distance - D.O.F.E.
D.O.F.E. (Flash to Subject Distance/Inverse Square Law)
The inverse square law or flash to subject distance as some people know it has just acquired a new name! In total lightenupandshoot style we are calling id DEPTH OF FLASH EXPOSURE or D.O.F.E. for short!
This new term simply makes more sense to us, so don't get too offended if you are a mathematical diehard. Hear us out before you go bananas. In our brains that are centered around photography, Depth of Field (DOF) and the Inverse Square Law have a lot in common and because of this we think Depth of Flash exposure makes more sense to not only us but future photographers as well!
So sit back and enjoy as we try to explain a mathematical equation in total lightenupandshoot style! See exactly how complicated this thing really is, but how easy to understand it should be with our new terminology...ok so maybe it's still complicated but we tried!
Now just to clarify, the measurements we give in the video are not exact, but they are pretty close. We are definitely not out measuring anything with a tape measure, but if you want to...you'll see it's close.
